Kartik Aaryan’s last release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was not only one of the most successful films of last year, but it also turned out to be the actor’s biggest box office opener in his career. The Chandu Champion also received a lot of praise for his final act in this horror comedy.

At the recently held edition of SCREEN LIVE, Kartik  opened up on this ‘now-iconic’ sequence from Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and shared that it was this pivotal portion which was the genesis of the film.

The actor shared, “Right after the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, I was told the one-liner of the third part, which was essentially the climax portion. I was really excited about the idea. In fact, the entire film was written around this sequence.”

While speaking about the climatic sequence where he portrays a transgender character and dances to Sonu Nigam’s rendition of ‘Mere Dholna’ song, Kartik credited the film’s team for handling the sequence with care.

“I knew the team would handle the portions with care. I knew it would be cinematically rich, but not caricaturish,” the actor said.

Kartik further called this sequence the emotional core of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and added that even the audience never anticipated this twist.

He said, “Not many expected that twist, right? So, we clung to the idea and started the journey from that point. I am glad that people are connecting their stories to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. People have been talking about it, discussing their connections with the story, etc.”

Reflecting upon how this scene became an important moment in his acting career, the Freddy actor recalled, “I was doing such a dance for the first time. The song, sung by Sonu Nigam ji, added so much gravitas to the film too. Of course, with Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit by my side, it was a huge cinematic moment for me as an actor too. It was magical.”

On the work front, Kartik has two films in the pipeline- a yet-to-be-titled film with Anurag Basu and Sameer Vidwan’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
