Kareena Kapoor Khan opened up on how she is proud of doing a film like Laal Singh Chaddha despite its dismal performance at the box office.
Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was one of the most anticipated movies of 2022. Unfortunately, the film helmed by Advait Chandan, upon its theatrical release, failed to meet the expectations of the audience and delivered an underwhelming performance at the box office.
Recently when Kareena Kapoor Khan made an appearance at the round table discussion hosted by The Hollywood Reporter India, the actress recalled how her co-star Aamir Khan was ‘shattered’ by the film’s poor reception.
The ‘Crew’ actress shared, “Laal Singh was such a beautiful, honest film. You have such stalwarts like Aamir who believed in that film (Laal Singh Chaddha). Of course, he was shattered.”
She continued, “He met me somewhere and he said, ‘Picture nahi chali humari na, tu baat toh karegi na mujhse (Our movie didn’t work. You will still talk to me, right)?’ What is the meaning of saying this now that I am sorry? I said, ‘We are actors! I am most proud that you gave me Rupa! I feel what Rupa has done… it has done more for me than what a Singham (Again) can do!”
Elaborating on why she is proud of having a movie like Laal Singh Chaddha in her filmography, the actress said, “The character was so beautiful. I loved playing it, I enjoyed doing that part. It had so much more to do, so much more to think of… you are not just there and we did not make that film thinking it would make Rs 500 crore. It was just made with all heart.”
Laal Singh Chaddha is a Bollywood adaptation of Tom Hanks’ cult classic Forrest Gump. The comedy-drama starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Mona Singh in pivotal roles, and marked the Hindi film debut of Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya.
