Honey Singh, in a new interview, revealed that Shah Rukh Khan didn’t like the Chennai Express chartbuster ‘Lungi Dance’ when he heard it for the first time.
The Chennai Express song ‘Lungi Dance’ which was a tribute to ‘Thalaiva’ Rajnikanth, was a rage when the film released. Picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the foot-tapping number was sung and composed by rapper Honey Singh.
However, you would be surprised to know that Shah Rukh Khan initially didn’t like this song when he heard it for the first time. The Bollywood superstar wanted Singh to create a song like ‘Angrezi Beat’ as he loved it but the singer refused to budge.
Honey Singh told ETimes, “Shah Rukh Khan called me after listening to ‘Angrezi Beat’ and asked me to make a similar song. I said ‘No, tell me what is the vibe of your film’. He narrated his film for 3 hours. I told him I will create something for him and will come back only if the song will be a super hit. I made ‘Lungi Dance’ and he didn’t like it. I told him, ‘Chahiye toh theek hai, nahi chahiye toh main isko single release kar dunga (Take if you want to, else I will release it as a single). This will work.’”
Well, Honey Singh’s prediction did turn out to be true and the song struck a chord with the audience.
Helmed by Rohit Shetty, Chennai Express revolves around a young man whose trip to fulfil his late grandfather’s last wish turns into an unexpected adventure when he offers to help a runaway bride.
