Kartik Aaryan admitted doing a film just for remuneration at the beginning of his career.
Kartik Aryan graced our screens for the first time with his debut film, Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011) wherein he became popular with his viral monologue. But it was his 2018 bromance, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that propelled him into the ranks of a A-lister actor. Over the years, Kartik has established himself as one of the most bankable new generation actors.
But has the actor ever done a film just for the sake of money? Kartik gave a candid answer to this in his recent masterclass session with Pinkvilla.
The ‘Chandu Champion’ actor revealed, “Yes I have. I did it in the beginning. I won’t say for which film. But in the beginning, I was in a phase where I didn’t have enough money and I had to do it. I didn’t think I had another option barring that. I couldn’t wait any longer for the films. I wasn’t getting the options, so of course; So, I once did a film for the money. I hate to say this but I have done that.”
Further during the course of the interview, Kartik also shared his take on the ongoing debate around actors and big stars charging high remuneration for films.
The actor opined, “Everything has a calculation. It’s a business module. If things are sitting in the calculation, then it’s correct. If your satellite, digital and music rights are already giving benefit to the producers, and if your mathematics is sitting correctly; if the audience is coming for you, then it makes sense.”
Further, elaborating on why these debates continue to happen, he explained, “Since people are not doing these calculations, these debates are happening. The calculations are going off and thus most people are not happy and in fact angry. I hope my producers stay happy and I don’t make them angry in any way. I think my calculator works well.”
On the work front, Kartik Aaryan is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 co-starring Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit.
