Raveena Tandon recalled how she got cast opposite Salman Khan in her debut film, Patthar Ke Phool.

When you talk about popular Hindi film actresses from the 90s, you definitely won’t miss naming Raveena Tandon. The ‘Mast Mast’ girl always left a mark on screen with her spunky presence. For those who don’t know, Raveena started her career as a model and received her first film offer when she was working as an intern under ad-man Prahlad Kakkar.

After rejecting film offers of working with actors like Sanjay Dutt, Chunky Pandey, Lucky Ali, and more, Raveena made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Anant Balani’s Pathhar Ke Phool in 1991.

Speaking about how this film offer came her way, the ‘Mohra’ actress recently recalled on the latest episode of Aap Ka Apna Zakir, “We were at a restaurant. Anant Balani, the director and Vivek Vaswani, the co-producer came to me and asked for my name and my dad’s number. ”

Later, when Vivek became a friend of Raveena’s brother, Rajiv Tandon, he realized that the actress was Ravi Tandon’s daughter, and offered her the role of the female lead in Pathhar Ke Phool.

Raveena said that after rejecting many film offers, she finally agreed to make her debut opposite Salman Khan in Pathhar Ke Phool only because it had a Maine Pyar Kiya connection.

The actress revealed, “The reason why I worked with Salman Khan was due to the fact that the next day when I went to college, Maine Pyar Kiya was released. All my friends asked me to do the film for them. They told me, please do this for us. We will come to the sets, meet Salman, and then you can quit the industry. Under their pressure, I did Patthar Ke Phool and post that never looked back.”

The Bollywood star further said that she always tells people that she is in the industry by default.

Workwise, Raveena was recently seen in Binoy Gandhi’s Ghudchadi which premiered on Jio Cinema. The film also starred Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthaan and Khushalii Kumar.
