Kriti Sanon opened up on the casting of her male co-star Shaheer Sheikh in her upcoming Netflix film Do Patti.
The much-anticipated trailer of Kajol-Kriti Sanon’s upcoming Netflix thriller Do Patti was unveiled today. The film marks their reunion on screen after nine years. The film, penned by Kanika Dhillon, also marks the Bollywood debut of popular television actor Shaheer Sheikh who is known for shows like Navya and Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi.
At the trailer launch event of Do Patti, Kanika Dhillon spoke about the casting process of the film and went on to narrate how Kriti Sanon personally auditioned with ten final candidates who were shortlisted to play the role of the male lead Dhruv in the film. Ultimately, the part was bagged by Shaheer Sheikh.
Kanika shared, “Just an example of how hands-on Kriti was. Kriti’s like, ‘Last 10 rounds, I’ll audition with 10 people’. And those last 10 people left, Kriti herself went and auditioned with each of those 10 candidates, did that scene over and over. Adhe toh ghabra gaye ke Kriti audition karne ayi hai!”
Hearing this, Kriti added, “To be honest, I think it was so important to find the current Dhruv. You know, because again, the character has so many layers. And the chemistry has to work in a certain way. So, I was glad that we did the audition.”
Further speaking about her co-star Shaheer Sheikh, she continued, “I think while I was doing the audition only with him, I felt in my head when we were seeing that the chemistry was working, also the shades of group that he has. I think he was pulling it off so well.”
Do Patti which marks Kriti Sanon’s debut as a producer also features her in a double role. The film revolves around a tough cop who is entrusted to investigate an attempted murder case involving twins, Saumya and Shailee (played by Kriti Sanon). Do Patti, helmed by Shashanka Chaturvedi, is slated to release on Netflix on October 25.
