Feroz Khan banged up his own brand new Mercedes to make his entry scene in Qurbani unforgettable.

Late actor and filmmaker Feroz Khan was never afraid to take risks for cinema. His films brimmed with style, glamour, and daring choices, but nothing captured his fearless spirit better than his entry scene in Qurbani (1980).
The sequence begins with a beggar, who has lost a leg, cleaning Rakka’s (Amrish Puri) car and asking for money. Instead of compassion, Rakka notices a scratch and cruelly slaps and kicks the beggar to the ground. Just then, Khan’s character arrives, and teaches him a lesson in his own bold style.
For this sequence, Feroz Khan wanted his entry to match the power of his co‑stars Vinod Khanna and Amrish Puri. So instead of playing it safe, he turned his prized Mercedes into a stunt prop. That moment became one of the highlights of Qurbani.
In a recent chat with Zoom, Zayed Khan shared a story about this iconic scene told to him by Feroz Khan’s actor-son Fardeen Khan.
Zayed revealed that Feroz had just bought himself a brand new Mercedes when he was planning his entry scene for this film. Unsure of how to make his arrival memorable, he decided on the spot that he would crash the car to mark his entry. It wasn’t a scripted or planned stunt. He simply said they should bring the car and bang it up, and that would be his introduction in the film.
The Main Hoon Na actor explained that this kind of eccentric decision could only come from an artist, someone willing to go to extremes for the sake of cinema.
Zayed’s anecdote shows that for Feroz Khan, cinema was worth every sacrifice, even if it meant destroying a luxury car. That boldness is what made him one of Bollywood’s most iconic stars.
Qurbani tells the story of two best friends, Amar (Vinod Khanna) and Rajesh (Feroz Khan), who unknowingly fall in love with the same woman. Their bond is tested when a vengeful enemy discovers the truth and uses it to create chaos, leading to a tale of love, betrayal, and sacrifice.
Co-starring Vinod Khanna and Zeenat Aman, Feroz Khan’s Qurbani went on to become a blockbuster upon its release, and is still remembered for its music and action.
