At the trailer launch of Chatrapathi, the film’s leading man Bellamkonda Sreenivas spoke about making his debut in Hindi cinema with this film.
Telugu actor Bellamkonda Sreenivas is all set to make his debut in the Hindi film industry with Chatrapathi. The film is a remake of SS Rajamouli’s 2005 film by the same name which was headlined by Prabhas.
In a chat with The Hindu, the Alludu Adhurs actor opened up on his first Hindi film. The actor recalled watching the Prabhas starrer when he was in seventh-eighth grade.
“I came out of the theatre all pumped up and energised, a changed person,” said Sreenivas adding that he hopes to recreate a similar euphoria with his Hindi version. He shared that the film’s director VV Vinayak decided to approach Chatrapathi remake as a full-fledged Hindi film rather than a pan-Indian film. Sreenivas said that writer KV Vijayendra Prasad wrote a new script which would be relevant for the contemporary audience.
The actor revealed that he took a couple of days to think if Chatrapathi remake would be the right film for me to make his Hindi debut before he gave his nod. He said that when he rewatched Prabhas’ Chatrapathi, he was convinced that he shouldn’t let go of this opportunity.
“Rajamouli sir blessed our film and was happy that we are remaking it. This film is our tribute to him, in recognition of his contribution to Telugu cinema. This is the least we could do,” said the Kavacham actor.
Speaking about how his film would be different from the original, Sreenivas explained, “The run time will be a little over two hours. We have tried to make some of the action episodes better, given the technological advancements and safety measures available these days. They had limitations back then. Today we can jump off 300 feet with safety harnesses.”
Besides Bellamkonda Sreenivas, Chatrapathi stars Nushrratt Bharuccha, Bhagyashree and Sharad Kelkar. The film is slated to release on May 12, 2023.
