Anurag Kashyap shared that he was supposed to start the shoot for Salman Khan’s Tere Naam when the film ‘ghosted’ on him.
Anurag Kashyap who got his major writing break with Ram Gopal Verma’s Satya, made his directorial debut with the unreleased film Paanch. After garnering critical acclaim with films like Black Friday, Dev D and Gangs Of Wasseypur, he established himself as one of the prominent names in the film industry.
But do you folks know that before Anurag became a poster boy for independent cinema, he was supposed to helm Salman Khan starrer Tere Naam? However, he was eventually replaced by Satish Kaushik.
According to Anurag, he was supposed to start the shoot of Tere Naam but the film ‘ghosted’ on him after he asked Salman to grow chest hair.
The filmmaker told Bollywood Bubble in an interview, “I was not asked to leave Tere Naam. The film ghosted on me. I was only questioned why did I asked Salman a certain thing, after that nobody got back to me.” He added, ” I didn’t even know when the film started shooting and what happened. I was very involved from the beginning. Hum shooting ke liye jaane wale the. (We were supposed to go for the shooting). I had just asked Salman to grow chest hair, and he also didn’t say anything.”
Further, on being asked if he ever told Salman about it, the ‘Haddi’ actor replied, “I did not met him since then. I have come across him once or twice and have said hi-hello.”
Tere Naam which released in 2003, was a remake of the Tamil film Setu which featured Vikram and Abitha. The Hindi remake marked the Bollywood debut of Bhumika Chawla.
