Akshay Kumar had this to say when asked about his movies’ underperforming at the box office in 2024.

2024 was a tough year for Akshay Kumar where most of his films like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira and Khel Khel Mein failed to impress the audience and underperformed at the box office. Stree 2 and Singham Again did fare well, but the Bollywood superstar only had special appearances in these movies.

Recently at the trailer launch event of his upcoming film Sky Force, Akshay addressed his films’ poor performance at the box office last year. The actor said that that it’s not happening for the first time, and added that one must keep on working hard, despite the failures.

“It’s not like this has happened for the first time. The best thing to do is keep on working hard. I keep telling myself this, and talk about it to others too, you have to keep on working hard. Lots of people come and tell me to do a maximum of two films in a year. But if I can work more, why shouldn’t I? My entire career has been made at this pace with dedication and hard work. I have also been told not to take up content-based films, but I don’t want to do that,” Akshay told reporters.

He also spoke about Sarfira‘s debacle and said, “Even though the film didn’t work, I was very proud that I made a film like Sarfira. It is one of my best films.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar is currently busy promoting Sky Force. The film, helmed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, also features Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur, and marks the Bollywood debut of Veer Pahariya.
