Aditya Roy Kapur reacted to Kartik Aaryan replacing him as the leading man in Anurag Basu’s Aashiqui 3.
Last year in September, it was revealed that Kartik Aaryan has been roped in to play the leading man in Aashiqui 3 which will be helmed by Anurag Basu. While making the official announcement, the Satyaprem Ki Katha actor had promised fans that this film would be a ‘heart wrenching’ one.
The makers are yet to reveal the heroine of Aashiqui 3. However, rumours are rife that Fatima Sana Shaikh of Dangal fame has been finalized opposite Kartik. Amid this, Aditya Roy Kapur who essayed the role of Rahul Jaykar in Aashiqui 2 reacted Kartik headlining the third film of this successful franchise.
While speaking at the press conference of The Night Manager, the actor shared that when he first heard about Aashiqui 3 being made, he had many people asking him whether he wanted to be a part of this musical.
Aditya told reporters, “Kartik and Fatima, is it? I mean when I first heard of it people asked me if I wanted to be a part of it. In the second film, I took a long swim, so I don’t think my character can return for a sequel (His character had died by suicide). I think the team that they are putting together, from what we are hearing, is a great team. And I am really looking forward to it as a film watcher to see what they do with the next part. I am sure they’ll do a great job.”
Previously, the OG Aashiqui man Rahul Roy had also reacted to Kartik being finalized for Aashiqui 3. The actor had admitted that it would be huge struggle for the Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 star to live up to the expectations, adding that Kartik is a wonderful actor who has a history of picking right films.
Coming back to Aditya Roy Kapur, Aashiqui 2, helmed by Mohit Suri, was a major turning point in his career. Besides its chartbuster music, the romantic blockbuster was also appreciated for his enticing chemistry with Shraddha Kapoor.
