Abhishek Bachchan revealed the compliment he gave his actress-wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after watching her recent release, Ponniyin Selvan 2.
Fans who were eagerly waiting to watch Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on screen were in for a treat when she recently floored them with her enticing performance in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan 2. The actress won rave reviews from her critics and the audience for her dual role as Nandini and Mandakini.
Well, it’s not only them, even her actor-husband Abhishek Bachchan was mighty impressed with her shining act in this Mani Ratnam directorial. Speaking on the sidelines of the IIFA awards held in Dubai, the Bunty Aur Babli actor in a chat with Bollywood Bubble, shared the compliment he gave Aishwarya after watching Ponniyin Selvan 2. Bachchan Jr revealed that he told her that according to him, it was her best work till date as an actor.
The actor told the news portal, “Well, I told her that I think it was her best work till date as an actor. An unbelievable feat to accomplish with a role like that, very, very layered, very difficult and to just ace it as a pro that she did it was fantastic. I’m so proud of her.”
Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s epic Tamil novel of the same name, Mani Ratnam adapted the book into two parts- Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Ponniyin Selvan 2. The film features Chiyaan Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a double role as Nandini and Mandakini, Karthi as Vanthiyathevan, Trisha as Kundavai, Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhi Varman/Ponniyin Selvan, Sobhita Dhulipala as Vanathi and Aishwarya Lekshmi as Poonguzhali.
Meanwhile, except for his cameo in Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa, Abhishek Bachchan’s last few releases had taken the digital route. Speaking about being part of OTT projects, he said, “Well wherever the work takes me, I am available. I am an actor, my job is to act.”
The actor will next be seen in R Balki’s Ghoomer which also features Saiyami Kher.
