At a recent media event, Aamir Khan opened up on taking a break from films.
Aamir Khan recently graced trailer launch event of the upcoming Punjabi film Carry On Jatta 3 along with the star cast of the film including Gippy Grewal, Sonam Bajwa and others.
While interacting with the media there, the superstar was asked about his next project after Laal Singh Chaddha. In response, Aamir urged everyone to focus on the Punjabi film he had come to support. However, he also added that he will sign a new film once he is ’emotionally ready’.
The Dhoom 3 actor said, “Since you all must be curious, let me quickly give you an answer. I haven’t decided to do any film as of now. I want to spend time with my family right now. I’m feeling good about it because that’s what I want to do right now. I’ll do a film when I’m emotionally ready, for sure.”
Aamir was also quizzed why Bollywood stars don’t do Punjabi films anymore citing examples of how actors Raj Kapoor, Sunil Dutt and Shatrughan Sinha did in the past. To this, Khan said that he does a film if the story is good adding that if it is in a different language and if he loves it, then he will learn the language and do it.”
“Stars back then, like Yusauf Saab (Dilip Kumar) his first language was Punjabi. Raj Kapoor too spoke in Punjabi, so it was natural for them to do Punjabi films. For us, it would be a little bit of effort. For example, Punjabi isn’t my first language, but I would love to do it, ” the Ghajini star told reporters.
Aamir Khan’s last theatrical release was Advait Chandan’s Forrest Gump adaptation, Laal Singh Chaddha which was a box office debacle. Later, he was seen in a cameo in Kajol starrer Salaam Venky.
