Nayanthara shared why she took up Shah Rukh Khan-Atlee’s Jawan in a new interview.
Tamil filmmaker Atlee forayed into Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan last year which turned out to be a big blockbuster at the box office. The film also created a lot of buzz for marking popular south actress Nayanthara’s debut in Hindi cinema.
The actress essayed the role of a Force One officer and King Khan’s romantic interest in the film. Recently in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, Nayanthara opened up on why she gave her nod to this action thriller.
The ‘Raja Rani’ actress revealed that her decision to take up Jawan was largely influenced by her love for Shah Rukh Khan. She was also all praise for Atlee with whom she had previously collaborated on several Tamil films.
Nayanthara was quoted as saying, “Shah Rukh sir spoke to me and he made sure that he made me very comfortable and because because getting into Hindi cinema is something that I’ve not done in my entire career so when he spoke to me he made me very comfortable and I felt and there’s there’s so much of love and respect for Shah Rukh sir.”
She continued, “I think just for him and also for Atlee for the little brother he has been to me and from his first film till Jawan I think hardly one or two films I’ve not done with him but most of the films I’ve done with him and we have that kind of an equation where when he needs me when when he thinks that I’m the right choice for the film I’m always there and that’s how it’s always going to be and so for these two people I mean Jawan was purely for Atlee and dear Shah Rukh sir.”
Jawan was the highest grossing film of 2023. The Atlee directorial revolves around how a prison warden, driven by a personal vendetta, goes on to rectify the wrongdoings in the society in his own way. Besides Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara, the film also featured Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Sanya Malhotra, Priya Mani, Ridhi Dogra and Sunil Grover.
