Manoj Muntashir, the writer of Prabhas-Kriti Sanon’s Adipurush recalled how he was deeply affected when the film stirred a controversy.

Om Raut’s 2023 mythological action film, Adipurush was one of the most highly-anticipated film of that year for its ambitious casting and budget. Unfortunately, the film upon its release, not just received negative reviews and tanked the box office, but it also found itself in the midst of several controversies.

The film’s writer Manoj Muntashir was also severely condemned for using modern-day slangs and penning controversial dialogues which didn’t go down well with a large section of people.

Recently in a chat with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Manoj Muntashir admitted that he was deeply affected by all the criticism and even ‘cried’ after Adipurush garnered negative response and was hit by controversies.

He shared, I had cried. As a human being, I understood that nothing is permanent. What exists today might not be there tomorrow, but I also learned that what is good today can turn bad tomorrow and may become good again the day after. So, I haven’t stopped or given up; I’m working hard day and night.”

He also reflected upon his experience in Bollywood and called it a ‘marketplace’ where profit is the only rule.

“Bollywood is a market. In the market, there are no rules or laws; profit is the only rule. When they find it beneficial to come to me, then they will come, and they are already coming,” he said in his interview.

Touted to be a modern-take on Ramayan, Adipurush starred Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan in leading roles. Previously in an interview, the film’s director Om Raut had reacted to the film’s criticism and claimed that he made his film from whatever he understood from the epic. He had also added that nobody can understand Ramayan fully.
