It’s no secret that actors sometimes resort to method acting to make their performances look more realistic on screen. Archana Puran Singh, who featured in many Hindi films, recently walked down the memory lane, and shared some memories of the popular Raja Hindustani song, ‘Tere Ishq Mein Nachenge’ featuring Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan.

In the film, the song plays at a pivotal point where Aamir‘s character Raja gets drunk after feeling insulted, and creates commotion at a party. Since the actor is known to be a perfectionist, did he actually take to the bottle while filming this song? Archana Puran Singh addressed this query in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble.

The actress shared, “The song was Tere Ishq Main Nachenge. I am not sure, but I have heard that Aamir Khan was drunk during this scene. His room was next to mine, but he didn’t drink in front of me. But, I think he might have experimented with the scene. He wasn’t very happy with the experiment. But I think he did.”

For the unversed, Archana Puran Singh essayed the role of Aarti (Karisma Kapoor)’s stepmother in the film. Her character had negative shades to it. In the interview, the actress said that she was happy when she was nominated for the Filmfare Award-Supporting Actress for Raja Hindustani.

“I was so happy about this film because I was nominated for the Filmfare Awards. It was for doing this role and film, as a supporting actor. Also, it was the first and only time I was nominated, I never got any awards though. And Pradeep then came and told me that nomination is as good as getting an award. I understood that I wasn’t getting the award. But yes, look I was thin at one point in my life,” Singh told the publication.

Raja Hindustani, which released in 1996, was inspired by Shashi Kapoor-Nanda’s 1965 hit film, Jab Jab Phool Khile. The Dharmesh Darshan directorial was the highest grossing Hindi film of that year, with Nadeem-Shravan’s music becoming a hit with the audience.
