Taapsee Pannu announced a new film, an action thriller titled Gandhari. The Netflix film will feature her as a fierce mother on a mission.

After Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, Taapsee Pannu and her long-time collaborator screenwriter Kanika Dhillon are joining hands once again for a new Netflix film. Titled Gandhari, the raw action-thriller will be helmed by Devashish Makhija whose last directorial was Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Joram.

Gandhari will feature Taapsee in the role of a mother who is out to seek revenge. Apparently while filming the 2021 film, Haseen Dillruba, Taapsee had told Kanika that she was looking forward to doing a meaningful, story driven action film and now, things have finally fallen into place with Gandhari.

While speaking with Variety, the ‘Naam Shabani’ actress said that a special kind of magic happens whenever she and Kanika come together to work on a movie.

Elaborating on the film, she continued, “With Gandhari, we’re venturing into new emotional depths, and I’m thrilled to explore this intense character. I did action 9 years ago, and I’ve been waiting for a script that would bring me back to it and challenge me in new ways. After playing a spy, I was searching for something deeper, and Gandhari, with its powerful story of a mother driven by revenge, felt like the perfect fit. Collaborating with Netflix and Kathha Pictures allows us to craft bold, unique, and impactful stories. Working with Netflix has always been rewarding, as it enables us to reach a broader audience who shares our passion for filmmaking.”

One hears that the makers are planning to mount the film as a franchise. Gandhari is expected to go on floors soon.
