Over the years, Taapsee Pannu has established herself as a versatile actress with her powerful performances on screen. At the same time, she is also amongst the few leading ladies who doesn’t shy away from sharing her opinion on the functioning of the film industry.

Recently, in a chat with Zoom, the ‘Badla’ star recalled her initial days in showbiz and talked about the challenges she faced when it came to access to Bollywood’s inner circle.

While speaking about the same, Taapsee recalled how she was advised to text Bollywood biggies so that she could receive party invites from them.

The actress told the “I was told to send messages to the biggies so they would invite me to their birthday parties. I can’t do that as this just isn’t me. I also can’t stay up after 10 pm as I get up really early in the morning. I don’t drink or smoke; so I don’t know what to do there. I party with my friends where I dance and eat a lot. I can’t party with people whom I don’t know well; main kya baat karungi (what will I talk about). People know I won’t come so they don’t call me as well. However, it doesn’t mean I won’t get any work if I don’t party.”

Further, Taapsee also accepted that making appearance at such parties helps in getting an access to Bollywood camps. Elaborating on the same, she continued, “This is also a way to get access into the camps. But the process of partying after 10 pm is so draining to me; it is not me. I would rather choose the harder way, do a lot of work. I don’t have the liberty to do bad work because one bad film will cost me a lot as I don’t have access to the camps to make up for it.”

Acknowledging the existence of Bollywood camps, Taapsee explained that nepotism debate that’s often discussed is about the problem of getting access.

“If a big budget films is being made, I am sure nobody would disrespect me by saying I am not fit for the role, but I might not get the part because my name will not be brought up as other actors, who are part of camps, they would be recommended for the part. The harsh reality is that big films is about access and I don’t have that access to make it into that room,” the actress said in her interview.

On the professional front, Taapsee Pannu’s next release is Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba.
