Vijay Varma, in a new interview, revealed that he doesn’t want to take up serial killer roles anymore.

    Vijay-Varma

Vijay Varma caught everyone’s attention with his portrayal of Moen in Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy. What followed next is a series of versatile performances which includes playing an abusive husband in Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings and a serial killer in Reema Kagti-Zoya Akhtar’s web series Dahaad.

Recently, in an interview with Film Companion, Vijay revealed that he refuses two serial killer stories every week as he is done with them. According to the Mirzapur actor, he knew that he could play only one serial killer in his career and he has already achieved that with Dahaad. Vijay said that he doesn’t believe in repeating the same kind of roles as it can get boring.

The actor said, “I picked the right one for Dahaad and then I am done with it. So now I am saying no to two serial killer stories a week. I tell them I am done with my serial killers.” He mentioned that just like Anthony Hopkins, he too doesn’t want to essay the role of a serial killer again. For the unversed, the Hollywood actor had played the role of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs for which he had even bagged an Oscar.

In the same conversation, Vijay also shared that he was attracted to his Darlings character Hamza because he had no progression through the film and was horrible from start to end.

“It’s not like I am saying no to bad guys, I want them to surprise me. Darlings… Hamza surprised me. I’ve never seen a man like that on screen. He started as an a**hole, he continued to be an a**hole, he died an a**hole. So there’s no arc, per se. That was very interesting for me,” the Lust Stories 2 actor told the portal.

Talking about Vijay Varma’s upcoming projects, the actor will next be seen in the Netflix film Jaane Jaan alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat. He also has Homi Adajania’s Murder Mubarak in the pipeline.
