Sivakarthikeyan reacted to reports about him making his debut in Hindi cinema while speaking at a recent media event.
At the Telugu pre-release event of Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film Maaveeran, Adivi Sesh who was one of the guests dropped the news that the Doctor actor is all set to enter Bollywood soon and apologised for breaking the news before an official announcement. While speaking at the event, the Telugu star said, “I realised that he’s not just a big star, but a big star with a big heart. After Telugu, he is now going to enter Bollywood. Sorry, I just broke the news.”
The news immediately spread like wild fire on social media and fans of Sivakarthikeyan couldn’t contain their excitement. Finally, at a recent interaction with the media, the actor finally broke his silence on these speculations.
According to a report in Indian Express, Sivakarthikeyan told reporters, “There was a miscommunication. It came across as if I am doing a straight Bollywood movie. When asked if my film with Kamal Haasan‘s production house is getting a Hindi release, I confirmed it will as Sony is also collaborating with Raaj Kamal Films International. He made it sound like I am making my Bollywood debut. On top of that, I maintained one reaction to everything that happened there (because he doesn’t know the language), hoping that they are only telling good things about me.”
Sivakarthikeyan is currently excited about his upcoming film Maaveeran which centres around on an encounter between a big-shark politician and a cartoonist.
At the media interaction, the Tamil star also reacted to reports of him bringing down his remuneration to help in the making of this fantasy flick.
Sivakarthikeyan said, “There’s no hero in the industry who hasn’t gone through this situation. We are stuck in such a system. I acted in Rajini Murugan, made by a renowned production house, Tirupathi Brothers. To date, I haven’t received my salary for that. Similarly, I did a movie with another big production house. I had to go to court to get my money. There’s no one here to stand for me, I should do it myself.”
He added, “It is not about my salary, but trying out good content. Madonne Ashwin’s Mandela didn’t have a theatrical release, so we have no idea about his market potential. So, it is an experiment. If I just get my quoted salary and don’t bother about the film, you don’t know if it can be made. Or if someone else would take up this socially-responsible good content.”
Elaborating on the film, the actor shared that even though Maaveeran contains a social message, it is far from being preachy and doesn’t have the actors mouthing long dialogues and messages. However, by the end of the film, the audience would know what the movie stands for.
Maaveeran features Aditi Shankar opposite Sivakarthikeyan.
