Avika Gor, in a new interview, opined on the topic of nepotism when it comes to the South film industry.

After becoming a household name with characters like Anandi (Balika Vadhu) and Roli (Sasural Simar Ka) on television, Avika Gor made her transition to big screen with the Telugu film Uyyala Jampala in 2013.

Over the years, she starred in a few South films like Intiki, Cinema Choopistha Mava, Thanu Nenu, Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada and Raju Gari Gadhi 3. Recently, in a chat with popular RJ, Siddharth Kannan, Avika shared her take on the topic of nepotism.

According to the actress, nepotism is quite prevalent in South film industry especially Telugu cinema, but Hindi cinema suffers due to a bias in people’s perception about it.

Avika expressed, “See when it comes to star power, South is all about star power. When it comes about nepotism, the word that we all are tired of hearing… South is all about nepotism. So, things are just the same. It’s just that audiences are not choosing to see it there the way they are seeing it here. A bias has been created over the time against Bollywood and Hindi films that we will judge whatever they make.

The actress told the interviewer that there was a phase in Hindi cinema when a lot of South films were remade which made the people think that they only copy films.

She further added, “Nepotism is right front and centre in the Telugu industry. I mean how are people choosing to not see it? I think people have hyped it a lot. And with time, I hope that social media will relax along with it.

On the work front, Avika Gor is now all set to make her Bollywood debut with the horror film 1920 Horrors Of The Heart. The film is helmed by Vikram Bhatt’s daughter Krishna.
