Shehnaaz Gill is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming big screen debut, Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
After becoming a household name with Bigg Boss 13, Shehnaaz Gill is now all set to make her big debut in Bollywood with Salman Khan-Pooja Hegde’s upcoming Eid release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.
In an interview with Indian Express, the actress opened up on her new innings and said that Salman giving her a film break doesn’t mean that everything is sorted for her.
The publication quoted her as saying, “My journey is in my hands. It is on me how much I want to work on myself, what do I really want to do in life, the kind of characters I want to play. I have a long way to go. I will get films if I work hard on myself. Not that Salman sir has given me an entry, so everything is sorted. It is completely a lie if people believe that I am a rising star just because I have got an entry in Bollywood.”
She said that she now realises that acting isn’t an easy job as assumed by many people. On the other hand, it requires dedication, hard work, passion and most importantly, the will to never give up, especially if one is an outsider.
“You have to face many hurdles if you are an outsider. If you have the talent and are unique, then you can go ahead. My personality was unique, so I could move forward,” the actress shared with the portal.
Shehnaaz also opened up on her struggling days and recalled how she was once rejected from a film set after she was taken in the movie.
“When I look back, I feel destiny can change anytime. How foolish is it to call someone on set and then reject them. If you want to reject, do it before, not when the person is already there. They said, ‘Oh she is a kid, how can we take her.’ It hurt me. Now when they would listen to this… Main haath nahi aani (you can’t catch me now), ab toh main bohot badi hogayi hu, apni nazron mein (I have become big in my own eyes). Today I feel rejections should be accepted, it’s ok,” said the actress.
Further, in the same interview, Shehnaaz also credited her Bigg Boss journey as ‘life changing’ and said that she wouldn’t have got a Bollywood debut in a Salman Khan film, the love and her fandom if she hadn’t participated in that reality show.
The actress told the publication that she is aware of fans’ overwhelming adulation and looks at them for their feedback. She also added that she isn’t bogged down by popularity or even negativity whenever it comes her way.
