Ajay Devgn shared an unforgettable memory from the premiere of his debut film Phool Aur Kaante in a throwback interview.

Ajay Devgn made one of the most unforgettable debuts opposite Madhoo in Bollywood with Kuku Kohli’s Phool Aur Kaante (1991). Back then, tracks like ‘Tumse Milne Ko Dil Karta Hai’, ‘Dheere Dheere Pyar Ko Badhana Hai’, ‘Maine Pyaar Tumhi Se Kiya Hai’ echoed through college corridors, wedding playlists, and every cassette deck. Decades may have passed, but his arrival on screen, balanced atop two moving motorcycles, is still etched in everyone’s minds.

In a throwback interview with Lehren Retro, the Shivaay actor shared one of his indelible memory from his debut film.

Ajay Devgn fondly recalled the overwhelming love he received from the audience during the theatrical premiere of Phool Aur Kaante. He revealed that when the song ‘College Ki Ladki’ began playing, the audience, swept up in excitement, began to throw money at the screen. Amid the frenzy, one coin struck the actor on the head. Rather than brushing it off, he chose to preserve the moment- he took the coin home and had it framed.

Further, during the course of the interview, Ajay also recalled his early shooting days and shared, “I used to hear that people get nervous while shooting for their debut movie and doing things in in front of the camera, but I was nervous because I was not nervous as expected since it was my debut.”

Phool Aur Kaante revolves around Ajay (Ajay Devgn), the son of a crime lord, who tries to lead a peaceful life but is forced to confront his violent legacy when his son is kidnapped. The film upon its release was a blockbuster, and Devgn even won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut (Male) in that year.
