In a recent interview, director Ali Abbas Zafar was asked whether his latest OTT release Bloody Daddy starring Shahid Kapoor would get a sequel.

After Farzi, Shahid Kapoor once again forayed into the OTT space with his latest release, Bloody Daddy which marks his first collaboration with Ali Abbas Zafar who is known for films like Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. The action-thriller is currently streaming on Jio Cinema.

Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, director Ali Abbas Zafar was asked whether he has any plans of coming up with a sequel for Bloody Daddy since the climax hints some scoop.

In response, the filmmaker said, “Let’s see. It always depends on the love the character and the world get. And it can’t be defined by one-day love. It has to be a long love. People have to be talking about it six months or a year after the release. Then it’s a validation that the film and the character have stayed with the audience.”

In the same interview, Ali also responded to people drawing comparisons between Bloody Daddy and John Wick.

He told the publication, “People only draw that comparison because Shahid is wearing a black suit and his body type is very close to that of Keanu Reeves. The reason behind wearing that in the film is because people have seen him in the leather jacket so he needs to change his identity. He changes clothes in order to mingle with the crowd. There may be visual parallels like action sequences in a washroom and gaming room, but character and story-vise, both films are poles apart.”

A remake of the French film Sleepless Night, Bloody Daddy revolves around a man who embarks on a dangerous journey and battles drug cartel after his child gets kidnapped. The film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Diana Penty, Ronit Roy and Rajeev Khandelwal.
