Vidyut Jammwal revealed that he lost a lot of money when his 2024 sports action film, Crakk failed to mint money at the box office.

Vidyut Jammwal’s last theatrical release, Crakk had turned out to be a cold turkey at the box office. Besides acting in the film, he had also bankrolled it under his production banner ‘Action Hero Films’. In a recent interview with a publication, the ‘Commando’ actor reflected on the financial losses he incurred when this movie failed to set the cash registers ringing at the ticket windows.

Made on a budget of Rs 45 crore, the film wrapped up its journey at the box office at just Rs 17 crore. marked Vidyut’s second box office under-performer in a row, following IB17, which he co-produced as well. That spy thriller had made Rs 29 crore against a budget of around Rs 40 crore.

Recently in a conversation with Zoom, Vidyut revealed that he lost a lot of money (post Crakk failure). In order to recover from this setback, he joined a French circus troupe and spent some time with a contortionist there.

The publication quoted the actor as saying, “I lost a lot of money (because of Crakk’s failure). The most important thing for me was, how will I deal with it. With losing money comes a lot of advice. People who’ve lost money in the past and friends who really care about you… It was important for me to disconnect from all the advice. After the release of Crakk, I joined a French circus and spent about 14 days with these elite human beings.”

He continued, “I spent time with this contortionist. A contortionist is someone who can make their bodies reach certain levels which are nearly impossible. So, when I’m watching a contortionist, in my head, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, how can somebody be like this’. I’m the smallest person in that room when I’m in a circus like that. I spent some time with those guys, and by the time I came back to Mumbai, everything had calmed down.”

Further, Vidyut shared that he was ‘debt-free’ in just three months post Crakk’s box office failure because he stuck to his guns and took measures to mitigate losses.

“When I came back, I sat down and thought, ‘Okay, I’ve lost so many crores, now what do we do?’ And I have to tell you, in three months, I’m debt-free. It’s a miracle,” said the ‘Thuppakki’ actor. Further, Vidyut added that when his friends asked him how he did it, he simply told them that he just didn’t ‘stress about it’, and executed a game plan, but didn’t divulge any details.

After Crakk‘s mediocre performance in cinema halls, the film was edited significantly for its streaming and satellite release. Vidyut candidly admitted that when he watched the theatrical cut of the film, he felt it was a little slow.

Helmed by Aditya Datt, Crakk featured Vidyut Jammwal, Arjun Rampal, Nora Fatehi and Amy Jackson in leading roles.
