Sujoy Ghosh shared an anecdote from Badla sets to highlight Amitabh Bachchan’s dedication to his work.

After the poor performance of Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh and Te3N, Sujoy Ghosh bounced back with a mystery thriller, Badla headlined by Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. The film was an official remake of the 2016 Spanish movie, The Invisible Guest.

Recently in a chat with Mashable India, Sujoy dropped some insights on the filming of Badla, and highlighted Big B’s dedication when the megastar was working on this project.

The filmmaker shared, “Sir has been a significant figure in my life. In this scene, he was rehearsing for what might have been the 16th or 17th time. Everyone else was exhausted and had dozed off; Taapsee had nearly fainted in a corner. But sir insisted, ‘Let’s do this,’ and kept rehearsing.”

Further, Sujoy said that he made Badla because of Taapsee, and went on to reveal that initially when the actress had approached him with the script, he had refused to direct it.

“The film happened because of Taapsee. She originally brought the script to me, but I initially declined to direct it. Later, Akshay and Sunil approached me with the same project, saying they were making changes. I agreed to direct it on the condition that I could cast Amit ji and rewrite the script. Once they agreed, I took on the project,” the director said in his interview.

Badla follows the story of a young woman who finds herself locked in a hotel room with the corpse of her dead lover. Hoping to find answers, she finds a renowned lawyer to defend her only for things to get more complicated.
