Siddhant Chaturvedi addressed reports of him turning down a role in Ayan Mukerji’s epic action fantasy film, Brahmastra which released in 2022.

Siddhant Chaturvedi, who shot to fame with his role of MC Sher in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, shared that he was offered a role in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. However, his father discouraged him from taking up the film as he felt that his son which was a newbie back then, would get lost amongst the star-studded cast.

In a chat with Humans Of Bombay, Siddhant walked down the memory lane and recalled, “It was at a very initial stage at that time, I was a nobody, a struggler, so who am I to say no to Ayan Mukerji, Dharma and Brahmastra.”

He continued, “They were still writing the script, and I was excited. I could have done it as well, but my father wouldn’t have let me. He said, ‘You are better than this,’ I was elated that I will be getting a three-film contract with Dharma. I met Ayan, who showed me his vision of Brahmastra. I had only done a handful of ads by then, so I was a nobody. I told my father the film has Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan and he asked me, ‘Toh tujhe kaun dekhega (so, who will notice you)?’”

Siddhant said that when his father asked him to give a gist of the role offered to him, he realized that he only knew that he would do action sequences, which will involve him ‘shoot arrows and stuff.’ His father wasn’t impressed with the idea, and dissuaded him from taking up the part.

The actor shared, “He said, ‘Nahi beta, I don’t think you should do it. Do you have the script, have you auditioned for it? If you don’t even know what you are going to do in that film, don’t sell your destiny.’”

He continued, “Even Gully Boy had Ranveer Singh and Alia, but after the audition, Zoya told me she will send me the script and I was shocked, because, again, I was a nobody. She casually said if I like the script, she would love to have me on board. I narrated the entire script to my father and despite the film had Ranveer and Ali, he noted two crucial scenes of mine–my entry and when I lose–and said these sequences will make me.”

On the work front, Siddhant is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, Yudhra. Helmed by Ravi Udyawar of ‘Mom’ fame, the action entertainer also features Malavika Mohanan, Raghav Juyal, and Ram Kapoor.
