Shankar is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming political thriller Game Changer which is headlined by Ram Charan. Recently in an interaction with the media, the Indian 2 director shared the reason behind Ram’s casting in the film.

Shankar revealed that the decision to cast Ram Charan in Game Changer was made before the release of SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster film RRR which skyrocketed him to global recognition. According to the filmmaker, producer Dil Raju felt that Ram Charan was the perfect choice for Game Changer and he too agreed with his decision.

“Ram Charan’s decision to do this film was made even before the release of RRR. Dil Raju felt that it would be good if Ram Charan was in this. It seemed appropriate to me too. Some of my stories are universal themes that can be applied to any hero, so they would be perfect for a big hero. There was a good journey with him in this film,” Shankar was quoted as saying.

Further, he also lauded Ram Charan’s acting chops and added, “When you look at him, it seems like he is controlling the power inside. It also seems like he will explode when required. He is an artist who can give in-depth performances. He has a good screen presence. No matter what kind of scene it is, he handles it beautifully.”

Game Changer features Ram Charan in the role of an IAS officer who sets out to cleanse the corrupt political system. The film marks his reunion with his Vinaya Vidheya Rama co-star Kiara Advani. The Shankar directorial also features SJ Suryah, Samuthirakani, Naveen Chandra, Anjali, Sunil, and Srikanth.

Game Changer is slated to release in theatres on January 10, 2025 in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil.
