Producer Ratan Jain confirmed that a sequel to Baazigar is in works, and also added that he is in discussion with Shah Rukh Khan for the same.

When it comes Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s filmography, you simply can’t miss talking about his anti-hero act in Abbas-Mustan’s 1993 thriller Baazigar. The film, a major breakthrough in King Khan’s career, is still remembered for its popular dialogues and superhit songs.

While over the years, Shah Rukh Khan has cemented his position as a superstar known for his romantic roles besides a few experimental roles, we do miss seeing him play a grey shade on screen. Therefore, producer Ratan Jain’s revelation in a recent interview has given us high hopes.

Jain, in a chat with ETimes, shared that discussion with Shah Rukh Khan for a sequel to Baazigar is in the works.

He was quoted as saying, “We keep talking to Shah Rukh about Baazigar 2 but not much has happened but it will definitely be made.”

The producer told the news portal that the script for Baazigar 2 is yet not in the place, and that he will go ahead with the sequel only if Shah Rukh Khan agrees to be a part of it.

Jain said that while the team has several exciting ideas for the sequel, the key to success lies in creating a compelling script and a fresh direction which will live up to the high standards set by the 1993 film.

Baazigar starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Shilpa Shetty in leading roles. The crime thriller marked Shilpa’s debut in Hindi cinema. The Abbas-Mustan directorial revolves around a young man who goes on a murderous rampage to avenge the downfall of his family.
