Sanya Malhotra, in a new interview, got candid about how watching Shah Rukh Khan perform closely on the sets of Jawan helped her for her upcoming film, Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur.

Sanya Malhotra caught everyone’s attention with her impressive performance in Aamir Khan starrer Dangal in 2016, and established herself as one of the promising talents in the film industry. More recently, the actress was seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster mass entertainer Jawan.

Recently, in an interview with Indian Express, Sanya talked about how working with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan has altered her approach towards her career. She mentioned,  “A lot of things he told me during Jawan were so personal to me, that I feel like I should hold on to them for the rest of my life.”

Sanya said that a lot of her learnings from Jawan and especially watching Shah Rukh perform so closely has transformed her approach towards work.

The Kathal actress told the publication, “He (Shah Rukh Khan) told me, ‘Dimaag zyada lagati hai tu! Dil ki suna kar (You think a lot, try listening to your heart).’ I am an overthinker, so this is not the first time someone was telling me this!”

Recalling how she had received a similar advice from Anurag Basu when they were working on Ludo, she continued,  “I think Shah Rukh sir also sensed that and told me. He told me after we shot for a scene, that I should listen to my heart not my mind. That piece of information touched me, changed me.”

“From there I went to Sam Bahadur set and it stayed with me. I was completely living that moment as a character on the set. Shah Rukh sir’s advice kept playing in my head: ‘Dil ki suno, dimag ki nahi, relax karo,” the actress told the portal.

She further added, “That was really helpful, especially coming from someone like him. Not just for acting, for life. You can see it in him as well, that he does what his heart desires, that’s evident in his work and personality. His voice now keeps playing whenever I am in front of the camera.”

Speaking about Jawan, the Atlee directorial marked Sanya’s first collaboration with King Khan.
