Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently shared that he had Sai Pallavi in his mind when he was casting for his 2017 Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga took the Telugu film industry by storm with his 2017 Telugu romantic drama Arjun Reddy starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in leading roles. But do you know that the filmmaker had Sai Pallavi in his mind for the female lead’s role in this film before it finally went to Shalini Pandey?

Recently a video surfaced on X (previously Twitter) from the pre-release event of Naga Chaitanya-Sai Pallavi’s Thandel wherein Sandeep Reddy Vanga is seen talking about how he became a fan of the Amaran actress after watching her in Premam and wanted to cast her in Arjun Reddy.

The Animal director shared that he found a coordinator from Kerala, who he later learnt wasn’t really one.

“I spoke to him saying that I have a story about a guy who is destroyed in love. It’s a very romantic story also. I want to cast Sai Pallavi as a heroine in my film. He said, ‘What is the romantic quotient in Arjun Reddy?’ I said, ‘It is more than what we usually see in Telugu cinema’. He said, ‘Sir, forget about it. The girl will not even wear sleeveless. Forget about it,’” recalled the filmmaker.

He further continued, “But to see Sai Pallavi not changing at all, it’s great. It’s really great actually.”

Arjun Reddy upon its release went on to become a huge blockbuster and was later remade in Hindi as Kabir Singh with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani. Coming back to Sai Pallavi, the actress is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Thandel in which she is paired opposite Naga Chaitanya.
