Sai Pallavi shared how she once broke down on the sets of Shyam Singha Roy due to sleepless nights.
Sai Pallavi never fails to impress the audience every time she appears on screen. Predominately known for her work in different languages like Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil, the actress enjoys a huge fanbase as well. One of her acclaimed works is Rahul Sankrityan’s 2021 period romantic drama Shyam Singha Roy opposite Nani.
Though the Telugu film didn’t mint big figures as expected at the box office, Sai’s portrayal of Maithreyi alias Rosie, a devadasi won hearts. Her chemistry with co-star Nani was also appreciated. Who can forget Sai’s spell bounding classical act in the famous ‘Pranavalaya’ song!
Recently in an interview with Galatta Plus, Sai opened up on the emotional challenges she faced while filming for this movie. The actress shared that since most of her scenes were filmed at night for almost 30 straight days, she would barely get time to sleep. That took such a toil on her that she even broke down on the sets once.
The ‘Maari 2’ actress recalled, “While shooting for Shyam Singha Roy, I would have been happy just to finish the shoot for the day. Most of our scenes were shot at night and I’m not fond of night shoots. I’m someone who can’t sleep during the day. So, imagine being awake all night, only to be awake again the next day. This wasn’t just for a day or two, but it went on for almost 30 days.”
Talking about how she was working on multiple projects simultaneously at that period, Sai recounted how her sister came to her aid when she experienced an emotional breakdown on the sets of Shyam Singha Roy.
“I remember crying at one point and thinking to myself, ‘I want to act in films, but I just wish I could get one day off.’ I never told anyone about it, but my younger sister saw me crying and went straight to the producer, saying, ‘She is crying, and she just wants one day off,” the actress told the news portal.
She also shared that she was surprised by producer Venkat Boyanapalli’s reaction when her sister raised the issue with him. He told the ‘Kali’ actress, “Take ten days off. Do whatever you want, and come back when you’re ready.”
Meanwhile, Sai is currently receiving rave reviews for her performance in her latest release Amaran alongside Sivakarthikeyan. The actress is also all set to make her Hindi film debut with Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic, Ramayana which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.
