Samantha, in a recent interview, expressed her excitement over playing an action-packed role in Raj & DK’s Citadel: Honey Bunny.
Ever since the trailer of Raj & DK’s upcoming Amazon Prime series Citadel: Honey Bunny dropped online, fans cannot stop gushing over the leading lady, Samantha‘s action-packed avatar! From beating the baddies to pulp to going all guns blazing, the actress, known for several hit films in the past, is seen having a lot of fun on screen.
In a recent interaction with Firstpost, Samantha opened up on how Citadel: Honey Bunny is a welcome change in her body of work.
The ‘Theri’ actress thanked the director duo Raj and DK for offering her an action role, and said that it was a shift that she didn’t see coming at all.
Samantha told the publication, “I was always playing this girl next door cute (se) roles. I never thought that I can land a punch. It is a welcome change and it gives me more to explore. I think every time I work on a project there is a new facet that I discover and that I can tap into.”
The actress said that she believes that she has an immense responsibility now to take up roles that show different facets of being a woman, adding that there is a lot more representation of modern day woman in cinema today.
Admitting that she is pretty conscious of the roles that she picks, Samantha said, “This one is definitely a welcome change because we are used to spy movies and spy series where the man is doing all of the heavy lifting, and he’s at the centre of it all. So it is nice to be given equal, you know, ‘kind of equal’ time and in terms of action scenes in Citadel: Honey Bunny which is a great thing. I hopefully, more layered characters are written for women.”
The ‘Kushi’ star said that she prefers quality over quantity, and added, “Although the quantity of my work has reduced as compared to what I was doing a few years back, the quality of it is definitely increasing from one project to another. That is happening because I am choosing it correctly.”
In Citadel: Honey Bunny, Samantha essays the role of an aspiring actress who gets pulled into the world of espionage. The spy action series also features Varun Dhawan, Kay Kay Menon, Sikander Kher, Kashvi Majumdar, Sohum Majumdar and Shivankit Singh Parihar.
