Sai Pallavi opens up about her unconventional pre-shot ritual and spiritual preparation for playing Goddess Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic Ramayana.
For an actor, taking on a role is usually about reading the script, memorizing lines, and rehearsing scenes. But playing a revered deity requires an entirely different mindset. Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita in director Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming two-part epic adaptation of the Ramayana, recently shared how her preparation for the role transcended traditional acting techniques, turning into a deeply personal and spiritual journey.
Speaking at a promotional event for the film, Sai shared that she had not chosen the role herself but felt blessed to receive it, adding that it was not something one could simply pursue or perform by following a script. She revealed that before filming, she would meditate and invite Sita Maa to guide her, believing that whatever came through her was meant for the film. She said she tried to remain neutral in her thoughts so she could present the best version possible.
The actress also pointed out the weight of responsibility that came with the role, describing it as one of the most difficult tasks an actor could take on. Sai noted that portraying a goddess was not easy and required the collective effort of a team who put their heart and soul into the project, since the final work would become part of history.
While her own dedication to the project spanned three full years, she pointed out that the creative team behind the camera had been tirelessly working on the vision for an entire decade.
Nitesh Tiwari, best known for directing blockbusters like Dangal and Chhichhore, has brought together an impressive ensemble cast to bring the ancient epic to life. Joining Sai Pallavi on screen are Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The project also features notable performances from Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Sheeba Chaddha, making it one of the most highly anticipated films of recent times.
