In one of her latest interviews, Priyanka Chopra revealed that her mother was annoyed with her when she started behaving like her character Sonia from Aitraaz in real life while she was doing that film.

In her career spanning over two decades, Priyanka Chopra has entertained us with many powerful performances in films. When it comes to some of her most memorable characters on screen, one simply cannot miss her portrayal of Sonia Kapoor Roy in Abbas-Mustan’s 2004 romantic thriller, Aitraaz which also featured Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan.

However, do you know that this is one of the roles that the actress found it difficult to snap out of once the camera went off? PeeCee made this revelation in one of her recent interviews with Film Companion.

When one of the audience members asked her whether she finds it more difficult to get into a character or out of it, the actress replied, “To get into it. I’m not very method like that. It only happened to me once, when my mother was like, ‘Snap out of it if you’re going to come into my house’.” On being asked to name that character, Chopra revealed that it was Sonia from Aitraaz.

She further recalled, “Sonia (her character) didn’t behave badly. But I would walk in slowly, I would talk deliberately. I would pick up my coffee up like this, and look at you slowly. My mother was like, ‘Hello, koi camera nahi hai yahan pe. Come back home’. That was the only time it happened to me, it was so funny. I was like, ‘What am I doing?’ But I was so young, and I was so nervous about that character. I used to bring it home, I really wanted to figure it out and not get it wrong. And I was working with Kareena and Akshay at the time, they were big movie stars. It was a big step for me. But my mother quickly brought me down to earth. She filmed me once. She took a video of me quietly, and showed it to me, and I was so embarrassed.’”

Aitraaz revolves around a man who is falsely accused by sexual harassment by his boss’ wife who was his former flame. Earlier, the film’s producer Suneel Darshan had revealed in one of his interviews that Priyanka Chopra had cried after she was offered the vamp’s role in Aitraaz. However, he managed to convince her to take up the role and it went on to become a breakthrough role in her career.

Currently, Priyanka Chopra is busy with the promotions of her upcoming web series, Citadel which also features Richard Madden.
