Pankaj Kapur shared the reason why he didn’t go behind the camera after helming the 2011 film, Mausam.

Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur never fails to impress the audience whenever he appears on screen. Besides acting, he has also directed a show and a film- a Zee TV show, Mohandas B.A.L.L.B (1998), and Mausam (2011) starring his actor-son Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor.

Post Mausam, Pankaj hasn’t helmed any film yet. In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, the ‘Jersey’ actor shared the reason behind this and said that his temperament is more of an actor than a director.

Kapur said, “Mausam is the only film I wrote and directed. Having said that, I do have scripts, but I cannot go from door-to-door selling them. I do not have that temperament. My temperament is more of an actor.”

He further added that while he loves direction, he cannot struggle to make a film.

“I mean, I don’t mind if somebody comes to me and says do you have a script? Can I hear something? I’m ready to narrate it and if the person says yes, I like what you have written, I am ready to go ahead and direct the film. It’s not that I don’t like directing. I love directing, but I cannot struggle to make a film. So, after ‘Mausam’, I decided to be more of an actor, and when an opportunity arises, I will direct,” the actor explained.

Speaking about Pankaj Kapur’s last directorial, Mausam, the Shahid Kapoor-Sonam Kapoor starrer had failed to make a mark when it released and was declared as a flop at the box office.

Later in an interview, Shahid mentioned that despite Mausam‘s failure, he had 18 film offers. He had also revealed that the romantic drama written and directed by his father had forced him to step outside his comfort zone, adding that he learnt some of the most valuable lessons in filmmaking by observing his father on the film’s sets.

Currently, Pankaj Kapoor is busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, Binny And Family.
