Vishal Bhardwaj shared how Aamir Khan’s suggestion shaped Shahid Kapoor-Triptii Dimri’s love story in O’Romeo.

When Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri’s O’Romeo released in theatres on February 13, audiences anticipated a gritty Vishal Bhardwaj drama with a dash of romance. What they didn’t expect was to see Aamir Khan’s name flash in the opening credits, and then vanish without a cameo.

So why was Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist thanked so prominently at the beginning? Well, the film’s director spilled the beans about it in a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama.

Vishal shared that Aamir had asked to hear the script of O’Romeo. After listening, he dropped a single, razor-sharp idea that someone should be killed at a crucial point in the film.

“Killing the lawyer Anjum Ansari (Resh Lamba) in the restaurant was his idea. This is the reason why I thanked him. This suggestion changed so many things for me. Because from there, the protagonist, Ustara (Shahid Kapoor) gets attracted towards the girl (Afshan, played by Triptii Dimri). He realizes, ‘Oh my God, she can do anything to exact revenge’. So, he starts taking her seriously and even nurses her back to health after she gets injured,” he added.

The Kaminey director felt Aamir’s  suggestion was a creative turning point, and that’s why he chose to thank him “from the bottom of his heart” in the film’s opening credits.

In addition to Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, O’Romeo features Avinash Tiwary and Nana Patekar in pivotal roles, while Vikrant Massey, Disha Patani, and Tamannaah Bhatia appear in cameo performances.
