Kartik Aaryan has this to say when asked whether Bollywood doesn’t accept outsiders easily.

Riding high on the blockbuster success of his horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan recently attended the Times Network India Economic Conclave in New Delhi. At the finale event on Day 1, the actor opened up on his journey and struggles in the film industry.

During the course of the conversation with Navika Kumar, Kartik was asked whether Bollywood doesn’t accept outsiders easily.

The ‘Chandu Champion’ actor said, “As far as my experience is concerned and whatever I have achieved till now, there is one thing for sure. I have seen that I don’t know whether it’s in just Bollywood or other industries as well, there is this sense where if you know some people, things can become easier for you. But at the end of the day, it’s your talent and success which will speak volumes for you.”

He continued, “Of course, there is no even playfield. I won’t lie about that. But I don’t want any sympathy regarding that in life. I am totally complete, and happy within myself. I don’t want any ‘bechara’ tag. I just want to say that because there’s no even playing field, it appears like outsiders don’t get many opportunities. Maybe that’s also because we don’t have that much access. I don’t have anyone in my family who is a director or a choreographer or an action director who can open doors for me. So, I am opening my own doors.”

Kartik added, “I want to be the hardest worker in the room. I think when I got that opportunity, I grabbed it. After that I got the second opportunity, the third and so on. Maybe I didn’t get the kind of opportunities that others got, but I didn’t leave any stone unturned. I have no regrets or complaints about it. So, I am really happy with my journey.

The Bollywood actor also shared his take on whether success makes one more acceptable.

“I think with success, you start getting more authentic work which you were maybe craving earlier. Regarding acceptability, I always say that I am not here to make friends, and I am not bothered about whether I am being accepted or not. I can call them work colleagues. But I believe that friendship is that which you are with your school friends or college friends. Of course, I have met wonderful people in this industry, but it’s a different relationship.”

On the work front, Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film is with Anurag Basu. Apart from that movie, the actor is yet to make an official announcement about his other projects.
