Karthi opened up on teaming up with Raju Murugan on his upcoming film Japan which also features Anu Emmanuel.

Raju Murugan’s upcoming heist action comedy Japan featuring Karthi has generated a lot of curiosity ever since the makers dropped the trailer of the film a few days ago. The film marks Raju’s second collaboration with the ‘Kaithi’ star after the former penned the dialogues for the Akkineni Nagarjuna-Karthi starrer Thozha in 2016.

Recently, in an interview organised by Japan’s production company Dream Warrior Pictures, Karthi opened up on his director and said that their collaboration was excellent from the outset.

Speaking about Japan, he said, “When we started shooting, I experimented with a specific voice for my character’s dialogues in Japan and asked Murugan for feedback. He immediately approved and encouraged me to continue.”

He further added, “When disagreements arose, I trusted the director to make the final call. However, in most cases, we found a middle ground. This film has been a significant learning curve for me.”

Raju Murugan who was also a part of the same interview said that the questions raised by Karthi were always sensible and contributed to the development of the script and enhancement of the character.

The filmmaker continued, “Some people, whether artistes or technicians, enter the set with a predetermined mindset of investing only a certain level of effort into the project. I’ve encountered many such people. However, Karthi is the complete opposite. His aim is to give the project as much as he possibly can.”

He said that Karthi’s character in the film has been crafted in such a way that once he could have truly embodied it and added that the ‘Sardar’ actor had expressed his admiration for his character after reading the script.

Japan is slated to hit the big screens on November 10, 2023.
