Karan Wahi recalled how a director once refused to cast him for the role of an ugly-looking guy.

Known for his chocolate boy looks, actor Karan Wahi has garnered a huge fanbase with his impressive work over the years in showbiz. However, the actor feels that there have been times when his ‘good looks’ have worked against him.

Recently in a podcast with Bharati Singh, Karan admitted losing projects because he was deemed “too good-looking” compared to the lead actors.

Emphasizing on how he fails to understand why there is so much importance given to looks, the Dill Mill Gayye actor said, “If I’m working with Hrithik Roshan, he has a certain stardom, but that doesn’t mean I’ll start looking bigger because of him. There’s a lot of pressure due to vanity in the glamour world. Sometimes, you don’t get work because they say, ‘You don’t look like this, you can’t look like that.’ We don’t get that opportunity, that time frame.”

Karan then went on to narrate an instance when a director refused to cast him for an ugly-looking role. He shared that when that director who is also his friend, was struggling to find the right actor for the role, he offered to step in.

“He said, ‘Are you crazy? You’re an ugly-looking boy?’ So, I went to the dentist, got dentures made, shaved, we shot the film, and then showed it to the OTT platform. The platform didn’t even realise that it was me,” said the TV heartthrob who made his debut in the TV industry with the teen drama series Remix (2004).

On the work front, Karan was last seen in Amazon miniTV series Half Love Half Arranged S2 alongside Maanvi Gagroo and Rithvik Dhanjani.
