Barkha Bisht, in a recent interview, opened up on a difficult chapter from her early days in the television industry.

Barkha Bisht made her onscreen debut with the teen drama series Kitni Mast Hai Life in 2004, and went on to star in popular shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kii, Kkavyanjali, Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Ke Do Naam: Ek Radhaa, Ek Shyaam, amongst others.

However, Barkha’s journey in the television industry wasn’t a bed of roses. Recently in an interview with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, the actress revisited one of the stressful chapters from her early days wherein she recalled being sued by TV producer Ektaa Kapoor for quitting a Balaji Telefilms show.

Barkhaa told Siddharth that she was trying to prove herself to her father after leaving home to pursue her acting career in Mumbai when she was hit by this roadblock.

Further, things got even more intense when legal notices started piling up and Ekta’s lawyers wouldn’t stop calling.

“I didn’t tell anyone at home; I hired a lawyer and fought the case. Over time, she realised it was pointless, and I’m grateful that she backed off. At that time, Ektaa had the power to make or break your career—even today, she does. The case went on for about a year, and I continued shooting for my new show while also attending court hearings,” Barkha recalled.

Explaining why she didn’t inform her family about the lawsuit, the actress said, “After fighting at home and coming to Mumbai, you can’t go back and complain. I had come with the pride of ‘jo bhi karungi, khud karungi.’ So, I had to handle it myself. As a newcomer, my career could have ended, but by some divine power, Ektaa backed out. If she had wanted to, she could have ended my career.”

On the work front, Barkha recently appeared in Disney+ Hotstar’s superhero series Power Of Paanch co-starring Riva Arora, Urvashi Dholakia, Jaiveer Juneja, Aditya Arora, Anubha Arora, Bianca Arora, and Yash Sehgal.
