The Awarapan 2 teaser is here! Find out how Emraan Hashmi just triggered a massive meltdown of 2000s Bollywood nostalgia.
Bollywood just pressed the rewind button on our hearts. The makers of Emraan Hashmi‘s much-anticipated film, Awarapan 2 dropped the official teaser. Guess what, they pressed play on the one track that could make every 2000s kid cry on cue: ‘Toh Phir Aao’.
For anyone who grew up in the “Emraan Hashmi heartbreak era,” that haunting song was basically the national ringtone of pain. The track, originally composed by Mithoon and sung by Mustafa Zahid, remains an immortal fixture on late-night playlists nearly two decades later.
In the teaser, as the haunting melody starts playing, the dialogue directly echoes the unbearable pain of the original film, with Shivam Pandit (Emraan Hashmi), lamenting that death touched him but refused to adopt him. It’s Bollywood basically saying, “Here’s your emotional damage, enjoy responsibly.”
But the nostalgia bomb isn’t the only surprise. The teaser also revealed fresh faces joining the heartbreak party — Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. Disha steps in as the new emotional spark, while Shabana brings her legendary gravitas.
By building the whole promotion around its most powerful weapon- the music, Awarapan 2 has turned a short teaser into a full‑blown pop‑culture storm. It proves that the magic of 2000s Bollywood songs still hits hard today, and that Emraan Hashmi’s heartbreak legacy isn’t just a memory.
While Awarapan (2007) was helmed by Mohit Suri, its sequel has Nitin Kakkar stepping into the director’s chair.
When Mohit Suri directed the 2007 original, he infused it with his signature intense, tragic, and gritty underworld romance style. Nitin, on the other hand, is known for a very different kind of cinema. He had previously helmed films like Filmistaan, Notebook, and Jawaani Jaaneman. It would be interesting to watch what big twist Kakkar brings on the big screen.
Awarapan 2 is slated to release on August 14, 2026.
