Arjun Kapoor talked about how he was battling struggles off screen when he signed Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.

Arjun Kapoor is currently garnering appreciation for his performance as the main antagonist, Danger Lanka in Rohit Shetty‘s Diwali release Singham Again. Post a series of flops, the actor has tasted success after a long time.

Recently in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Ki & Ka’ actor opened up on how he is processing all the praise that is coming his way post the release of Singham Again. Arjun revealed that he was going through the worst phase of his life “personally, professionally, emotionally, mentally, physically” when he signed this multistarrer.

Speaking about his struggle with body image issues, he shared, “I went through my own physical issues — I’m a fat kid at heart, right? Eventually, I will always have to go through that. It creates a lot of mental trauma for years which you don’t realise — your equation with food, your equation with taking care of yourself.”

The actor also admitted that for a long period of time, he equated hard work with long working hours and neglected his health. Eventually, he turned towards seeking therapy after some amount of personal reflection.

Further, Arjun also opened up on battling an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.

“My health has always been, unfortunately, something which I’ve not openly spoken about. I have something called Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. It’s an extension of having a thyroid issue. Your antibodies fight against you. It’s almost like I can take a flight and gain weight because the body goes into stress,” Kapoor told the publication.

He continued, “The stress mode is when your antibodies believe something is wrong, and it goes into action. The more relaxed I am, the better I look — which is ironic, because in this profession, you’re not really relaxed.”

Besides his personal struggles, Arjun admitted that he was not in a great space in his professional life as well.

The actor recalled, “I was not a happy person and the fire within me diminished. And I’m taking this opportunity to say that if I had not sought therapy, even if this film had turned out the way it did, I would still be a conflicted soul on a personal level.”

He continued, “If I had not taken those two steps back I wouldn’t be able to take these five steps forward.”

It looks like Arjun finally has got a reason to cheer after a long period!

Coming back to Singham Again, the cop film stars Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor.
