Anushka Shetty, in a new interview, shared the reason why she took some time off after doing Baahubali.
Anushka Shetty, a popular name in Telugu film industry, is associated with many memorable roles. One of them is her portrayal of Devasena in SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali. However, unlike some of her co-stars who chose to explore Bollywood, the actress took some time off and decided to stick to doing Tamil and Telugu films.
Recently, in an interview with Indian Express, Anushka explained the reason why she didn’t capitalise on the success of Baahubali and take up pan India movies.
The Billa actress said, “Once I finished Baahubali, I had my commitment with Bhaagamathie, and then I wanted to take some time off. It was by choice. It was something I needed the most at that time. Back then, I felt like doing that so I would be more present for my future projects. I know it’s totally unheard of. It’s not what is expected of people. I don’t have a concrete answer for it, but I really wanted some time off. I didn’t listen to any script, but after that I have been listening. So surely if something exciting comes by, I will do it. Be it any language across the country.”
On being asked if Bollywood is on cards for her, she added, “Hopefully, if something really nice comes up, then definitely.”
Right from the time Anushka stepped in the film industry in 2005, she has always delivered two to three films every year. However, since the past five years, the actress has been taking things slowly. Explaining the reason behind the same, she said that while COVID-19 pandemic played an important role in it, she was also looking for a script that would really motivate her to push her limits.
Meanwhile, Anushka recently marked her return to the big screen with Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty in which she essays the role of a chef.
