Gangs Of Wasseypur director Anurag Kashyap recalled a hilarious yet frustrating behind‑the‑scenes moment when an actor failed a simple walking scene during a shoot.
Besides his bold and unconventional storytelling, Anurag Kashyap is also known for speaking with striking candor off screen. In a recent interview, the filmmaker shared a behind‑the‑scenes tale that was as amusing as it was revealing.
Ahead of the release of his upcoming film Kennedy, Kashyap, while speaking with Sucharita Tyagi on her YouTube channel, shared how even seasoned directors can sometimes find themselves stuck with actors in the most unexpected ways.
During the interaction when the director was asked if he had ever felt trapped during a shoot, he didn’t hesitate and said, “Ek baar phasa tha mein!”
He recalled one particular actor who simply couldn’t manage a basic walking shot. “I got stuck once. There was one actor who could not walk straight. He could have easily done that in that small space but something or the other happened and his hands and legs were always out of control,” he revealed.
He continued, “I got furious and frustrated. I took a chalk and made chalk marks in the edges and on the wall. I told that now if I see chalk marks on your body I am replacing you!”
That stern ultimatum worked like magic. ‘He just walked straight after that,” Anurag laughed as he recounted the anecdote.
Speaking of films, Anurag Kashyap’s much‑awaited directorial Kennedy is finally set to hit theatres on February 20 after several delays. The Rahul Bhatt starrer has already made waves internationally, earning a thunderous seven‑minute standing ovation at its 2023 Cannes Film Festival premiere.
