Ameesha Patel recalled how her co-star Sunny Deol turned into real-life Tara Singh when she faced a medical emergency on the sets of Gadar 2.
After 22 years, Ameesha Patel and Sunny Deol reunited on screen in 2023 for Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2- a sequel to their 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Recently, in a conversation with Jarp Media, the Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actress recalled a health scare she faced while filming a crucial scene for the film in a forest, and how her co-star Sunny turned into real-life ‘Tara Singh’ for his ‘Sakina.’
Recalling the said water scene which pushed her limits both physically and mentally, Ameesha shared, “It was physically and mentally draining. When I had spoken to Anil Sharma ji, I had said, ‘Anil ji, I’ll fall sick, please make sure that the water is hot.’ He had said, ‘haan, there will be hot water, don’t worry.’ However, when I went for the shot, I was wearing a thin cotton salwar kameez… This is the problem with heroines, unlike heroes who wear their jackets and leg warmers under their kurta pyjama. We can’t do that… The first time the water was showered on it, and I was shocked as it was freezing cold.”
The actress shared that her team tried their best and made multiple attempts to keep her warm. They even offered her brandy to rub on her feet and drink. However, her condition deteriorated. She soon fell unconscious and had to be lifted to her make-up van. When she didn’t wake up for three-four hours, the film’s team believed that she wouldn’t survive.
“After I finished the scene, which people don’t know, but my staff knows. They had to lift me and take me to my make-up van. I was unconscious. I did not wake up for three to four hours. People thought I was dead. I had reached the stage where people said, ‘She won’t survive,” Ameesha shared.
The Humraaz actress revealed that when she finally woke up after 4 hours, she couldn’t remember what happened in those hours. Ameesha then went on to share how Sunny Deol turned into her real-life ‘Tara Singh’ and took care of her.
She said, “Sunny sir was my real-life Tara Singh. He was there for Sakina when I needed him. You won’t believe he got a blood pressure machine from his room to check my blood pressure and a thermometer to check my temperature.” The actress shared that her co-star not only took care of her but also coordinated with their common doctor in Mumbai when local doctors tried to inject her with something as he cared about her health.
Coming back to Gadar 2, the film was a commercial success at the box office and one of the highest grossers of 2023. Besides Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the Anil Sharma directorial also featured Utkarsh Sharma and Simrat Kaur.
