Adah Sharma recently called out the gender discrimination that is rampant in the film industry.
Adah Sharma is currently basking in the success of her recently released film, The Kerala Story which has set the box office on fire. The actress who made her acting debut with Vikram Bhatt’s supernatural horror film, 1920 has also worked in films down the South besides her Bollywood career.
In a recent interview, Adah called out the discrimination which is prevalent in the film industry on the basis of gender. The Hasee Toh Phasee actress said that it doesn’t matter what industry you work because things will eventually turn out to be good if you get a worthy director.
Adah told Siddharth Kannan, “I have worked with people from north and south, who were very amazing and not amazing also. I have realized it is the person. If your director is nice, irrespective of the language, everything goes very well. But if your director is not very pleasant, and not very nice, it’s just not a nice thing.”
Further, the actress also expressed her discomfort over actresses being called on the set first and then being made to wait for their male co-stars to arrive.
“I have met the good, bad and ugly in all the places. I find it very strange that they first call the girl on the set and then they say, ‘ok, wait.’ When they see, ‘ok. she is here’, then they call the actor’s manager and tell him to come on the set and the girl is already there. I feel discrimination on the basis of gender, I don’t enjoy working in an environment like that,” Adah shared in her interview.
On the film front, Adah Sharma’s last release, The Kerala Files has already crossed Rs 200 Crore mark and has emerged as the third biggest grossing movie of this year.
