Aamir Khan, at a recent event, admitted that he dislikes his performance in a few scenes in his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

Aamir Khan was launched in Bollywood with Mansoor Khan’s tragic love story Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) alongside Juhi Chawla who had previously done a brief role in Mukul Anand’s Sultanat (1986). Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak not only only emerged as a commercial success, but its soundtrack also turned out to be a hit with the audience.

Recently at the trailer launch event of his son Junaid’s upcoming film Loveyapa, Aamir reflected upon his performance in his debut film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The Bollywood superstar admitted that he wasn’t entirely convinced with his work in that film and added that he looked “raw and awkward” on the screen.

Aamir told reporters, “I felt like my work was not very fine-tuned in some places. Some scenes I did well and also the song moments like Papa Kehte Hai were done well. But there are still a few moments that irritate me as an actor. I didn’t enjoy them.”

While expressing a certain dislike towards his own performance, Aamir didn’t shy away from lauding his co-star Juhi Chawla’s performance in the film.

“She did a good job and was polished as an actor with a command over her dialogue delivery and expression. It looked very clean on-screen whereas I used to speak very fast,” the Dangal star said at the event.

Later, Aamir also expressed his gratitude for his debut film becoming a hit, and admitted that he learnt from his mistakes which made him evolve as an actor. He also highlighted that the younger generation should also learn from their failures instead of fear or run away from them.

Qayamat Se Qayamat revolves around two star-crossed lovers from warring families.
