Twinkle Khanna recalled the time when she caught Aamir Khan crying behind a rock on the sets of Mela.

Twinkle Khanna and Aamir Khan shared screen space together in only film. Yes, you guess it right. We are talking about Dharmesh Darshan’s Mela (2000), which also featured Aamir’s brother Faisal Khan.

Recently, an old video from an event hosted by Karan Johar went viral on the internet where Aamir and Twinkle are seen indulging in some fun banter from the sets of their film, Mela. During the course of the conversation, the ‘Barsaat’ actress recounted how she once caught her co-star Aamir crying behind a big rock because the film’s director, Dharmesh Darshan, had turned down one of his suggestions.

Twinkle shared, “He had gone to the director to explain his shot, but he didn’t listen. Now this is Aamir, who is very serious about his work, so he was heartbroken. I found him sitting behind a massive rock and crying!”

Aamir responded to Twinkle’s playful jab with a smile and said, “Look at what she’s doing.”

In the same video, when Karan asked Aamir if he ever thought Twinkle was a good actress, the Bollywood star was stumped. When asked again and before he could answer, Twinkle jumped in and said, “Once he asked me, ‘What happened? Why are you not focusing on work?’ and I told him I am thinking about Akshay, he almost slapped me!” Hearing this, a surprised Aamir said, “Really? I don’t think I would have reacted that way.”

Mela which released in 2000, was a box office disaster. Funnily, when Twinkle  graced Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan, she mentioned that she had told Akshay Kumar that he would marry him only if Mela flopped at the box office.

In 2022, in an interview with a news portal, director Dharmesh Darshan said that he didn’t understand Twinkle’s dismissive attitude towards Mela, and added that she was good in his film.
