Vikrant Massey revealed that most of his female co-stars get paid more than him despite his big body of work.

In a recent interview with a leading tabloid, actor Vikrant Massey shared his opinion on the topic of pay disparity in the film industry. Citing example of Deepika Padukone, he said that he doesn’t get paid as much as her despite his ‘big body of work.’

ETimes quoted the Ginny Weds Sunny actor as saying, “Bahar ke jo so-called ‘A-listers’ he woh bhi platforms pe films kar rahe he. Humare ‘so-called A-listers’ he yaha ke, superstars he, pichle 15-20 saalon se TV pe kaam kar rahe he. (The ‘so-called A-listers’ from outside are releasing their films on streaming platforms, while some of our very own ‘so-called A-listers’ have been working in TV for the last 15-20 years).”

He further added, “Most of my female co-stars have been paid more than me, I have never made a fuss about it. My big body of work does not give me as much money as you know, Deepika Padukone, of course.”

Vikrant and Deepika had earlier shared screen space in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.

In the same interview, the Haseen Dilruba actor also opened up on his choice of films and shows and added that he is comfortable in doing things that he feels about or strongly about on social media.

“There have been days when I have taken a few comments about me, my family, my wife… to heart and I haven’t been able to sleep that day,” he went on to add further.

Vikrant Massey worked in TV shows like Balika Vadhu, Baba Aiso Varr Dhondo, Dharam Veer and Qubool Hai before he made his big screen debut with Ranveer Singh-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Lootera in 2013. A known face in the web series circuit, the actor recently starred in Sara Ali Khan’s Disney+ Hotstar film, Gaslight which also features Chitrangda Singh. The actor is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming crime drama series, Crime Aaj Kal.
